Elisabeth Snell

Elisabeth is a Senior Policy Associate and the Project Director of VAWA MEI. Elisabeth started her career in anti-violence work in Maine as a domestic violence hotline advocate, volunteer coordinator, and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) coordinator. She returned to Maine after a decade in New York City, where she completed a Master’s in Public Health, focusing on health policy and management while leading public health projects in both private and public sectors. Elisabeth has a particular interest in research and evaluation of health care best practices for survivors of intimate partner violence. She also serves as a peer reviewer for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Violence Against Women Research & Evaluation Standing Review Panel. Elisabeth lives with her family in Portland. When she is not juggling working and parenting, she enjoys reading, writing, and practicing mediocre yoga.
